The American Legion Oratorical is a scholarship speech contest designed to develop deeper knowledge and appreciation for the U.S. Constitution among High School students.
The contest begins at the local American Legion Post level and progresses through the District and Department (state) levels to the National level.
The top three winners at the National level currently receive scholarships in the amount of $25,000 for first place, $22,500 for second, and $20, 000 for third. More information can be obtained from your local American Legion Post or at www.legion.org .
The contests for the local posts are normally conducted in December, the District Contest is normally in January, and the Department contest is normally in February each year. As stated above, entry begins at the local post and the post can provide additional information.
